Kuala Kedah, around 15 minutes drive away from Alor Star, is a fishing village located at the river mouth of Sungai Kedah with a jetty serving to ferry passengers to and from Langkawi.
With its location facing west, a combination of sea and river mouth, add in the weather (or clouds), and here you have a place very suitable for sunset scenes.
