Traditional Costume Competition, Sg Long UTAR

The SRC (Student Representative Committee) of UTAR Sg Long Faculty of Accountancy and Management campus organized a traditional attire show and competition on 26 August night. The two hour event saw some 14 participants of the FAM campus donning traditional clothing of various races in Malaysia and trying hard to  win the judges (FAM staff members) for the top spot for the night - some tried to sing while others did some dancing.

In between the catwalks were two lucky draws for the audience and a singing performance.
The panel of judges, ready for action.

The audience was certainly dazzled.

No, she was not a participant...

The judges are contemplating on who to give better scores...

Vouchers for all participants.

Finally the FES guys are at the rumoured heavenly FAM, but where are the girls...? Heh.

Pavilion fountain

Also on Saturday was also our photography society weekly practice, where I met with the others at Sg. Wang plaza but then moved to Pavilion and ended up shooting the new landmark fountain.

This is actually the stairs at Sg Wang entrance... I like the lines.

This is two of the three bowls of the Pavilion fountain.

With lights changing you can see a fiery water shooting up like volcanoes...

Close up on the hibiscus carvings on the bowls.

Favourite shot of the day.

The fountain looks nice, but it's actually quite hard to get a good shot of the whole thing, that's why I decided to go close up this time.

Shu Yu's Visit

It's been long since I finished secondary school, and with many of my friends gone overseas with their studies there has not been much chances to meet most of the times. Anyway last Saturday Shu Yu came to KL for a visit, and met up with a few of us former classmates - and shared some of her experience in Russia. Hmm for example, walking in extreme cold of -40 degree C (!) to uni, with lips crack up and skins dried up. The most I had was only cycling at -4 degrees C. Such a big difference, haha.

Thanks to Choo Harn for bringing us to some nice ice kacang and Khai Siang for driving us around the town.

PC Fair (II) 2009

The second PC Fair of the year is upon us again at KLCC. One of the main attractions this time would be the ever lower price of external hard disks, and I bought a 500Gb one. Needless to say the fair drew a large crowd with all sorts of new products and items, not to mention the show girls...

The large amount of people made it hard to take photos, and there's been a few times where I bumped into people or being blocked but with my new lens I was able to get some close up shots. So, enjoy.

A new exotic look for the army camp? Here's Elaine promoting for an online game.

And Sandy.

An energetic Belle poses with Acer netbook.

On the ground floor hall Avira set up a stage to showcase their show girls - and their AntiVirus, of course. With their racequeens style attire and active posing of the girls the stand was a huge crowd drawer, though I suspect more photographers flocked to the area than actual buyers of the Avira anti-virus.

This girl would try different poses every now and then, no doubt a favourite among the photographers.

Shooting without flash produced a different feel to the photos; but with fluorescent lighting from below and other lighting in other direction this could throw the white balance off.

Buy Avira and she will heal your PC of all viruses! How good would that be? Haha...

Although she wasn't smiling here I feel that there is some sort of attractiveness in this shot...

Now she smiled again.

This is one of my favorite shots of the day.

Change of perspective, nice boots, really.

Did I mention about racequeens? Yeah looking at the situation if the Avira logo wasn't shown one could mistake the scene for a racequeen roadshow... But who's going to complain?
